DVI is a digital input. It could be an input available to connect your monitor to your PC/Laptop. To identify what it looks like enter DVI into your google search (or other browser) to view it in images. The other digital input commonly available are HDMI, Mini HDMI, DisplayPort and Mini DisplayPort. VGA is an analogue input which is being phased out. Please check the full specification of your monitor to see which input options are available. DVI is not as commonly used as HDMI and the ever increasing popular DisplayPort.
